Matthew Stafford to Take More Chances in 2015
Jim Caldwell said the day he was hired as the Detroit Lions’ head coach that he had a plan for Matthew Stafford.
And that plan is becoming increasingly clear.
It didn’t ask Stafford to do much in Year 1 of this regime — simply manage his turnovers better. And he did that, whittling his interceptions from 19 in 2013 to a personal-best 12 in 2014 (among full seasons).
With that foundation in place, it appears the next phase of the plan is to take the training wheels off in Year 2 and let the big-armed Stafford air it out a bit.
