Lions’ OC Expects Big Things From TE Ebron

Jim Caldwell spent a few minutes gushing about Eric Ebron’s off-season at the NFL owners meetings last week, but when pressed for specifics about what the Detroit Lions’ second-year tight end was doing to improve, Caldwell clammed up.

“Can’t give you all of our secrets, but he’s working,” Caldwell said.

Turns out that one of the ways Ebron has been trying to improve after a disappointing rookie season is by traveling to Atlanta to run routes for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

“I think that’s going to be a big key to our growth is to get more production from Eric, and I think he’s ready to do that,” Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said at the team’s town hall meeting for season-ticket holders Tuesday. “I know he’s been making some trips to Atlanta to work with Matt already this off-season, so he’s — the thing you like about Eric is he’s a bright kid and he works hard and he wants to be good. So we expect very big things from him moving forward.”
