Lions DT Fairley inactive vs. Cowboys
ARLINGTON, Texas — Defensive tackle Nick Fairley is inactive for Sunday’s NFC Wild Card game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fairley, one of three former first-round picks in the starting defensive line of the Lions, has not played since October. He was injured in the team’s game in London, a win over the Atlanta Falcons, but returned to practice and said he felt his knee was responding well Wednesday.
C.J. Moseley is likely to remain in the Lions’ starting lineup in Fairley’s place, but Moseley also missed practice time this week welcoming a new child.
Detroit will not have a second starter — right guard Larry Warford — quarterback Kellen Moore, receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end Larry Webster, cornerback Josh Thomas and defensive tackle Caraun Reid, who are all inactive.
Right tackle Doug Free is the most notable inactive for the Cowboys. The others: quarterback Dustin Vaughan, safety Jakar Hamilton, linebacker Keith Smith, linebacker James Anderson, tackle Donald Hawkins and defensive end Kenneth Boatright.
