Lions could be without WR Johnson
The Detroit Lions might find out what life is really like without star wide receiver Calvin Johnson for a few weeks.
Coach Jim Caldwell said on Monday that he considered sitting Johnson, who has been battling an ankle injury, on Sunday against the Bills. Johnson appeared to aggravate the injury in the third quarter against Buffalo.
“Johnson aggravated an ankle injury against Buffalo, and I’m hearing he could miss a week or two because of it,” Sports Illustrated’s Peter King wrote in his Monday Morning Quarterback column. “That would probably be a smart move … because in 37 snaps two Sundays ago against the Jets and 28 snaps Sunday against the Bills, Johnson was invisible.”
In those two games, Johnson totaled three catches for 19 yards.
“I thought about it last week and just looking at him and certainly being straightforward, I’m going to think about it again this week — strongly,” Caldwell told the Detroit News.
Running back Reggie Bush also suffered an ankle injury on Sunday that could sideline him out for Sunday’s game at Minnesota.
