League fines Kaepernick for Beats headphones
Marching to the beat of his own drummer has cost San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick $10,000.
On Thursday, Kaepernick said the league fined him for wearing bright pink Beats by Dre headphones around his neck after Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The NFL has an exclusive agreement with Bose.
Kaepernick was asked if Beats will pay the fine, Kaepernick said, “We’ll let that be unanswered.”
This is not the first time the league has taken a stern approach to a player promoting a product not sanctioned by the NFL.
In 2008, the league fined Chicago Bears linebacker Bryan Urlacher $100,000 for wearing a unathorized vitaminwater cap during a Super Bowl media session. The NFL’s official drink: Gatorade.
