Josh McDaniels Would Only Leave For Right Place
Find out why Josh McDaniels didn’t take any head coaching jobs.
It’s only a matter of time before New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels becomes a head coach again. His first stint in Denver didn’t end too well as he finished with a record of (11-17) in less than two full seasons.
Initially, there were six head coaching jobs available and McDaniels interviewed for three of them (Rams, Jaguars, and 49ers).
However, the timing just wasn’t right.
“I was humbled I had an opportunity to interview for a few of them this year,” McDaniels said Monday night. “It wasn’t the right — I’ve said it, if I have a chance again I’d be thankful for it because there’s only 32 of them and I’d be honored to do it — it would have to be the right time, the right place, the right people. They’d have to want me, I’d have to want that.”
“And that just wasn’t the case this year, and those people hired great coaches. I wish them nothing but the best. And if that ever comes up for me, I’ll be thankful that it does.”
Considering he gets to learn from Bill Belichick every day and call plays for Tom Brady, it would take a special opportunity for McDaniels to leave his current situation.
