John Harbaugh: Family not involved in Jim Harbaugh’s decision

Published

on

Since San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is not saying anything of substance regarding rumors he is being courted by Michigan, the media has gone to his family and friends to gauge Harbaugh’s interest.

However, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, Jim’s brother, said reports that his family and friends are encouraging him to take the Michigan job are untrue.

“I don’t know where that came from, but it didn’t come from the Harbaughs,” John Harbaugh said. “My dad and I both said [to Jim], don’t tell us. If something gets out, we don’t want the finger pointed at us. Leave us out of it and don’t tell us what you’re going to do.

“I think he’s just trying to figure out what the next thing is for him. And I think more than anything he’s just trying to have a great game on Sunday.”

Jim Harbaugh has one year remaining on his 49ers contract, but Harbaugh is unlikely to be with the 49ers next season.

Michigan reportedly has offered him a six-year deal worth $8 million per year.

Forty-niners general manager Trent Baalke confirmed this week that he was contacted by the University of Michigan to request an interview with Jim Harbaugh.
