John Fox Questions Players Attire In Freezing Cold
Find out how John Fox feels about players trying to look macho in freezing temperatures.
As reported yesterday, Sunday’s matchup between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers is projected to the coldest Bears home game ever. At kickoff, the forecast calls for one degree below zero.
Despite knowing what’s ahead inside Soldier Field, defensive lineman Pernell McPhee doesn’t plan on dressing for the occasion.
“I ain’t wearing sleeves,” McPhee said. “As a defensive lineman, as a front-seven guy, as a guy who plays defense — I think it’s a sign of weakness. I ain’t wearing no sleeves. I don’t know about everybody else. I’m at war. I’m [in] combat. I ain’t got time to think about sleeves. I’m gonna go out there sleeveless, and that’s how I’m going to play.”
Head coach John Fox offered his view.
“I’ve told them the macho stuff’s all great, but there comes a point where people might question your intelligence,” Fox said.
If you plan on heading to the game, I hope you think more like Fox versus McPhee.
