Jets to interview former Patriots scouting chief

The New York Jets said Wednesday that they will interview Jon Robinson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel, for their open general manager position.

Robinson was a division rival of the Jets for 12 years when he worked for the New England Patriots. He was the Patriots’ director of college scouting from 2009 through 2013 before taking the promotion with the Buccaneers last year. He is expected to interview with the Jets on Thursday.

The Jets, who fired GM John Idzik immediately after the season, already have interviewed Jets executive Rod Graves, Miami Dolphins college scouting chief Chris Grier, Houston Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan, Seattle Seahawks pro personnel director Trent Kirchner, Philadelphia Eagles pro personnel boss Rick Mueller and Cleveland Browns executive Bill Kuharich.
