Jets, Falcons want to talk to Bowles again

Published

on

Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is expected to interview again with the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons, and the San Francisco 49ers appear likely to talk with him again, too.

The Jets and Falcons are trying to finalize second meetings with Bowles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Bowles, 51, interviewed with the Jets last Wednesday and with the Falcons on Saturday.

The 49ers are expected to try to bring him back for another interview as well. He interviewed with them last Friday.

The Jets are thought to favor either Bowles or Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. They will be able to interview Quinn again next week, after the Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.

The Jets also reportedly are interested in talking to Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott. They also have interviewed running backs coach Anthony Lynn, Seattle assistant head coach Tom Cable, former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone and San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

The Falcons’ other candidates include Quinn, Marrone, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

The 49ers’ candidates reportedly include Austin, Gase, McDaniels, Quinn, 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, former NFL coach Mike Shanahan and former Cleveland Browns OC Kyle Shanahan.
