New York Jets rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin was released from the hospital on Monday, where he was kept overnight for monitoring after a head injury in Sunday’s regular-season opener.

Mauldin was strapped to a cart and taken to a hospital with neck and head injuries after he was piled on during a scramble for a loose ball in the fourth quarter.

The Jets also received positive news on cornerback Antonio Cromartie, whose MRI exam did not reveal torn knee ligaments as the team initially feared. After planting awkwardly in a non-contact coverage situation, Cromartie collapsed to the turf and was carted off the field Sunday and the early diagnosis was significant damage to his MCL and ACL.

He has not been ruled out for the Jets’ Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
