Jets, Bills could pursue Revis in free agency
New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis could possibly become a free agent this offseason and, if that happens, he reportedly would be pursued by the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.
Sources told ESPN that the Jets want to go after Revis to see if they can bring him back to New York. The report said the Jets have already been preparing how to best make their run at Revis.
In addition, former Jets head coach Rex Ryan also wants to try to bring the Pro Bowl cornerback to his Bills, according to ESPN.
Revis, who turns 30 in July, is a former first-round pick of the Jets. The Patriots have a $20 million team option they can exercise to keep Revis off the market, but if they don’t, he would become a free agent.
In 16 games for the Patriots during the 2014 season, Revis registered 47 tackles and two interceptions.
Tampering charges against the Jets were filed over comments that team owner Woody Johnson made in December about Revis, and the NFL has been looking into the matter, an NFL official told ESPN.
