Jerry Jones: WR Bryant to play every game in ’15

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones called the bluff of franchised wide receiver Dez Bryant, who is not at minicamp because of his stance on the unsigned one-year tender of $12.8 million for 2015.

“I have no doubt that when we play, if we’re still in a franchise situation, I have no doubt that he’ll be leading the way against the Giants,” Jones said. “We just know how competitive Dez is and how much he wants to beat the Giants and how much he wants to support his teammates.”

Bryant went to Twitter with claims that he would sit out training camp and the chance for him to skip regular-season games was “legit.” Executive vice president Stephen Jones said there is a wide gap in contract negotiations that Bryant’s agent described as dormant.

Bryant did not report to the mandatory minicamp completed Thursday and the next deadline of note is July 15. If the two sides don’t reach a new deal by that date, Bryant can only play for the one-year, $12.8 million tender afforded to him as the designated franchise player.

The common beef from free agents restricted by the tag is the lack of massive guaranteed money in the contract and Bryant asked via Twitter “Where is my security?”

The NFL’s top-paid receivers, Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals and Calvin Johnson of the Lions, make more than $15 million per season.

Several young stars are in line for new contracts, including Denver Broncos franchise player Demaryius Thomas, who is also skipping minicamp, and Cincinnati Bengals receiver AJ Green.
