Jaguars-Panthers inactives: C Bowanko, G Cann out
The Sports Xchange
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars will have just seven offensive linemen available for Sunday’s game with the Carolina Panthers after listing center Luke Bowanko and guard A.J. Cann among their seven inactives.
It’s quite a drop for Bowanko, who started the final 14 games of the 2014 season as a rookie. The Jaguars signed free agent Stefen Wisniewski during the offseason to compete for the starting center spot. Wisniewski eventually won out, pushing Bowanko to a backup position at center and guard and possibly tackle after taking some reps there the last couple of weeks. Both Bowanko and Cann are healthy inactives.
Three Jaguars were ruled out of the game on Friday as they have been injured and have not practiced with the team for several weeks. They include tight end Julius Thomas (knee), defensive end Andre Branch (knee) and defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks (recovering from ACL surgery).
The other two inactives are wide receiver Marqise Lee who has been out with a hamstring injury since Aug. 5 and who has yet to practice with the team, and running back Toby Gerhart who is sidelined with an abdominal strain. Gerhart was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report while Lee was doubtful.
Safety Dean Marlow, running back Brandon Wegher, tight end Richie Brockel, linebacker David Mayo, offensive tackle Nate Chandler, receiver Kevin Norwood and defensive tackle Star Lotulelei are inactive for the Panthers. Brockel, Chandler and Lotulelei were ruled out Friday.
