Jaguars Embrace Pokemon Craze

Find out how the Jacksonville Jaguars are setting the bar in terms of modern thinking.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the most technologically advanced, forward thinking teams in all of pro sports.  They have the biggest scoreboards and replay screens in the NFL, they have all sorts of options at Everbank Field including two swimming pools and even “FanDuelVille,” where fans can check on their fantasy teams during games.

The Jaguars have upped the proverbial ante as they’ve embraced the Pokemon craze, according to NFL Media-

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today the Jacksonville Jaguars and FanDuel announced plans for the first-ever public Pokémon Safari inside a major professional sports venue.  The Pokémon Safari presented by FanDuel will take place inside EverBank Field on Monday, July 25 from 6 – 8 p.m.  The event is free and open to all Pokémon trainers and members of the general public who register in advance at www.jaguars.com/pokemon.

“We know that everyone has been all over Jacksonville playing Pokémon GO, but have not had the opportunity to play inside EverBank Field.  That’s why we’re opening up the stadium for our fans.” said Jaguars Vice President of Marketing and Digital Media Steve Ziff.  “We want all Jacksonville Pokémon trainers to be the very best and to catch ‘em all!”

Fans will be invited to access exclusive Pokémon GO Pokéstops and gyms inside EverBank Field during a one-night only experience designed to engage those who play the popular augmented reality game.  All Pokémon trainers will be able to take a self-guided tour through the stadium that takes them past the world’s largest video boards, the Military Bell on the Sky Patio and Touchdown the Jaguar.  The event will end with a celebration on FanDuelVille, home of the world-famous Smart Pharmacy Spas and Cabanas, providing the first 1,000 fans who complete the route with an exclusive gym badge.

“At FanDuel, we pride ourselves on the experiences we offer fans and we’re very excited to partner with the Jaguars to bring the first stadium experience of its kind to Pokémon GO fans,” said Jay Amos, EVP of Strategic Partnerships at FanDuel. “The Pokémon Safari aligns with our vision of making sports more exciting by offering a unique opportunity to let fans enjoy all that FanDuelVille has to offer and we’re thrilled to be a part of something no sports team has done before.”

To those who scoff at this, attendance figures have been down across all of football and much of it is due to the cost of tickets and more likely, the quality of the television broadcast and proficiency of fantasy.  Teams need to do more, and offer more than ever before to sell tickets.

The Jaguars realize that and are paving the way in terms of customer service and forward thinking.  This is what modern sports are coming to and Shad Khan’s franchise is once again ahead of the curve.
