Jags GM Expresses Interest in Tom Coughlin
See who’s a candidate for the Jaguars head coaching job.
Many remember Tom Coughlin as the head coach of the New York Giants and rightfully so. After all, he spent 12 seasons in the ‘Big Apple’, which is remarkably within itself to last that long in the toughest sports market.
Winning two Super Bowls definitely helps, but Jacksonville is where it all started for Coughlin, where he was the Jaguars head coach from 1995-2002. During that time frame, Coughlin led the Jags to the playoffs four times.
After firing Gus Bradley, general manager David Caldwell was very open about his interest in potentially bringing Coughlin back.
“Tom [Coughlin] is somebody we’ll be interested in talking to,” GM David Caldwell said in a press conference on Monday. “… Tom’s a great man, a great person, and we’ll see how it goes. There’ll be a lot of people we’ll be interested in talking to.”
Coughlin currently lives in Florida, so it seems like a natural fit. The only problem is that Coughlin is 70-years-old and with such a young team, you never know how they’re going to react.
