The Rams know rookie first-round pick Todd Gurley won’t be running Sunday in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Gurley has no timetable for his first game action. Gurley suffered a torn ACL on Nov. 15 last season while at Georgia and was drafted 10th overall by St. Louis in April. But he was limited in training camp and is only one week removed from being cleared for contact in practice.

Gurley’s absence against the Seahawks was expected, but the Rams aren’t fully certain Tre Mason will be ready to carry the load.

Mason has been dealing with a hamstring strain and coach Jeff Fisher said the Rams will see how he feels this week before making a final call on who gets the starting nod Sunday.
