HBO’s Hard Knocks Episode 2 Recap: Rookie Haircuts
Bill O’Brien isn’t likable; the Texans mess up some fundamentals; a different side of Brian Cushing.
Episode 2 of the HBO series, “Hard Knocks” appeared on Tuesday evening and we have a complete recap, just in case you missed the show (or if you don’t have HBO).
- Bill O’Brien is still cursing.
- Vince Wilfork is joking with J.J. Watt about showing up to his “cabin” in Wisconsin wearing overalls.
- Mike Vrabel is trying to “motivate” undrafted rookie Lynden Trail. Trail is not doing well.
- Wilfork and Watt are talking about their love for breakfast and brunch. Those two would destroy a Golden Corral.
- Brian Cushing is picking on an adolescent about his hair. It would have been funny if the kid responded with a joke about “back-ne.”
- Cushing is destroying the running backs in one-on-one pass protection drills, as he should.
- Bill O’Brien isn’t concerned about Geno Smith’s jaw.
- O’Brien is giving media training. This is ridiculous. He’s telling them basically not to answer any questions unless they’re using tired cliches.
- Rookie linebacker Bernardrick McKinney is house shopping, while Jonathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson are shopping for baby clothes. Apparently at Sak’s Fifth Avenue.
- DeAndre Hopkins is shopping for clothes. He has a hat on that would make Indiana Jones cringe.
- O’Brien is still cursing and talking about cutting guys. Dare I say he comes across as a bigger a*(h0&e than his mentor Bill Belichick.
- Jadeveon Clowney is about to return to practice. He’s hitting blocking sleds.
- Brian Hoyer is talking about making it in the league as an undrafted free agent.
- HBO is cutting to highlights of both quarterbacks. If this was the first time you were seeing these guys you’d think it’s Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers.
- Vince Wilfork is giving himself a pedicure in the locker room.
- Brian Cushing is pushing a stroller on a segway. His wife is not a bad looking lady.
- “He’s a really good person and I don’t think he gets a lot of credit for that,” Megan Cushing.
- Cornerback Charles James is showing off his socks. Apparently he has “happy socks” with monsters that make him feel better.
- James is being noticed by the coaching staff.
- Kareem Jackson and Jonathan Joseph are bragging because they don’t wear jockstraps. J.J. Watt disapproves.
- Wide receiver Jaelen Strong is being shown dropping passes in the combined practices with Washington.
- O’Brien is not pleased with Strong’s work.
- The veterans are giving the rookies haircuts. They look ridiculous.
- Alfred Blue is getting a regular haircut.
- “I just feel like I need to make the best of the opportunity,” Blue said to the barber. “I’ve been playing ball all my life and you dream about this moment and the opportunity is here. Just go out there and prove to everybody that I can be that No. 1 back.”
- They are showing highlights from the Texans preseason victory over the 49ers.
- Houston is having major issues in short yardage. They couldn’t score on seven runs from the 1-yard line.
- Ryan Mallett messes up a play call. He then messes up the end of the 2-minute drill.
- More cursing from O’Brien.
- Jaelen Strong catches a touchdown, Texans win 23-10.
- Reggie Bush makes a cameo talking with former USC teammate Brian Cushing.
