Green Bay Packers Claim RB Christine Michael Off Waivers
Can Michael produce in Green Bay?
Desperate for help at the running back position, the Green Bay Packers claimed former Seattle Seahawks running back Christine Michael off waivers Wednesday afternoon.
Receiving the first significant playing time of his career, Michael gained 469 yards this season on 117 carries (4.0 ypc). He led Seattle with six rushing touchdowns before being waived Tuesday night.
Michael seems like a solid fit for the Packers who have had major issues at running back this season. Eddie Lacy had been somewhat of a disappointment before going down with an ankle injury and his backup James Starks was likely lost for the season with a knee injury.
At this point, we’re still trying to figure out who the former second-round pick from Texas A & M actually is as a running back. He was buried on the Seahawks depth chart during his first three seasons and was seemingly making the most of his opportunity to start this year.
A big game in New England by rookie C.J. Prosise as well as the return of Thomas Rawls made Michael expendable for Seattle.
We’ll see if he can add a spark to a Green Bay running game that is ranked 19th in the NFL.
