Giants WR Cruz tears patellar tendon

Published

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was carted off the field with a right knee injury Sunday night, and the team announced that he tore a patellar tendon.

The injury likely will end Cruz’s season.

Cruz was hurt on a fourth-and-goal play from the Philadelphia Eagles’ 3-yard line. He jumped in the back right corner of the end zone for a pass from quarterback Eli Manning, and he twisted and grabbed his knee while still in the air. The pass landed incomplete.

At the time when Cruz was injured, the Eagles led the Giants 20-0.

With two receptions for 16 yards Sunday, Cruz has 23 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown on the year.
