Giants replace two injured defenders

The New York Giants waived injured defenders Justin Currie and Tony Johnson on Monday and replaced them with Ashlee Palmer and C.J. Conway.

Currie, a rookie safety, has an ankle injury. Johnson, a linebacker, has a knee injury. Both were hurt in the Giants’ 22-12 preseason victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night.

Palmer, a seven-year veteran linebacker, has played in 94 games (24 starts) with the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. He has 107 tackles, 2.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in his career. Last year, he played in all 16 games, starting five, for Detroit.

Conway, a rookie defensive back out of Montclair State, intercepted eight passes last season.
