The New York Giants placed running back Michael Cox on season-ending injured reserve with a broken leg and signed running back Orleans Darkwa off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad Wednesday.

Cox suffered a fractured lower leg after catching a short pass on the Giants’ final offensive possession in their 38-17 loss against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The second-year pro finished his season with four rushing attempts for 33 yards, two receptions for nine yards and 11 kickoff returns for 261 yards.

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Darkwa played in four games for the Dolphins this season. He contributed on special teams in all four games and had three receptions for 31 yards against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 14 and four rushing attempts for two yards against the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 28.

Darkwa was signed by the Dolphins as a rookie free agent out of Tulane on May 13. He was waived on Oct. 6 and signed to Miami’s practice squad two days later.

The Giants also signed cornerback Josh Victorian to their practice squad and cut safety Kyle Sebetic.

The 5-10, 189-pound Victorian played in eight games in 2013 for the Houston Texans and four games with one start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012. He was credited with nine solo tackles for the Steelers and five special teams tackles with the Texans.
