The New York Giants acquired punter Brad Wing from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday and released veteran punter Steve Weatherford.

The Steelers will receive a conditional seventh-round draft choice.

The 32-year-old Weatherford, who spent the last four seasons of his 11-year NFL career with the Giants, punted 311 times for the team with a net average of 38.8 yards, and landed 97 inside the 20.

Wing, originally undrafted out of LSU in 2013, punted in all 16 regular-season games for the Steelers last season and also handled their holding duties. Wing, 24, punted 61 times with a 43.7-yard average and landed 20 inside the 20-yard line.

Wing, a native of Melbourne, Australia, started his pro career as a rookie free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 before being released prior to the regular season. He then signed with Pittsburgh on Jan. 3, 2014.
