Two wide receivers, a pair of pass rushers and one place-kicker were designated non-exclusive franchise players before Monday’s deadline.

Miami Dolphins tight end Charles Clay got the less-feared transition tag, which will assure him a one-year deal worth $7.07 million in 2015 if he doesn’t sign a long-term deal before the next deadline of import to this group of six.

Here’s what you need to know:

–Who was tagged, 2015 contract value:

Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas ($12.823 million)

Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston ($13.195 million)

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant ($12.823 million)

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul ($14.813 million)

Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski ($4.126 million)

–Franchise players by age:

Pierre-Paul (26), Bryant (26), Houston (26), Thomas (27), Gostkowski (31)

–Top potential free agents not tagged: Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray; Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas; Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh; Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb; Patriots S Devin McCourty

–The deadline to apply the franchise or transition tag was Monday at 4 p.m. ET

–All five players are permitted to speak to other teams as free agents. The cost for another team to sign a franchise player is the contract value plus first-round picks in 2014 and 2015.

–The deadline for these players and their current teams to agree to a long-term contract is July 15.

–Franchise values

Determined by averaging the top five player salaries by position.
