Forsett seeks long-term security in Baltimore

OWINGS MILLS, Mo. — During his six years in the NFL, Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett has played for five teams.

Now that he is thriving, Forsett hopes to remain with the Ravens for a long time. He expressed confidence that a long-term contract can be worked out after the season, when his one-year, $730,000 deal expires.

“Definitely, this is a great place, a great organization,” Forsett told The Baltimore Sun. “It’s hard not to want to be here. Definitely, I’m sure after the season sometime they’ll probably get something done.

“I would love to sign here. I’ve been waiting my whole career to find a home somewhere to not have to move every offseason, so that would be nice.”

Forsett was selected the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time Wednesday after rushing for a career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns Monday night. Forsett broke at least five tackles against the Saints, and he averaged 8.3 yards per carry.

“It’s definitely a team award,” Forsett said. “I’m blessed with a great offensive line. It’s their job to get me from A to C and for me to get from C to Z. I think we work very well together.”

Forsett has a career-high 903 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season, putting him on pace to finish with 1,313 yards.

“You saw the skills on tape,” coach John Harbaugh said. “I think the question was, ‘Can it translate into an every-down kind of a deal game in and game out?’ To see it translating is just a great credit to him. He’s a very talented guy.”
