Fisher expects more from Rams WR Britt
The Sports Xchange
St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher expects wide receiver Kenny Britt to play an expanded role on offense in 2015.
In his first season with St. Louis, Britt started 13 of 16 games in 2014, catching 48 passes for 748 yards and three touchdowns. He had played his previous five seasons with Tennessee, which drafted him in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft when Fisher was coaching the Titans.
“I can kind of share the same issue Kenny does and that’s we think he can be better,” Fisher said, according to ESPN.com. “I think he can do better. He thinks he can be better. He thinks he can be more productive. He’s looking forward to the offensive changes. I think, yeah, we should see a lot more out of Kenny this year.”
Britt re-signed with the Rams to a two-year deal reportedly worth $9.15 million with incentives that could drive it up to about $14 million, according to ESPN.com. Britt reportedly receives $4.3 million guaranteed.
Britt’s led the Rams in receiving yards, but Fisher said there is more Britt can do in his second year with the team.
“It didn’t surprise me because obviously I know Kenny, the production didn’t surprise me,” Fisher said. “I can kind of share the same issue Kenny does and that’s we think he can be better. I think he can do better. He thinks he can be better. He thinks he can be more productive. He’s looking forward to the offensive changes. I think yeah, we should see a lot more out of Kenny this year.”
