Falcons add two defensive coaches
The Atlanta Falcons continued to fill out new coach Dan Quinn’s staff Wednesday, reportedly hiring defensive coaches Marquand Manuel and Jeff Ulbrich.
Manuel, who worked with Quinn in Seattle, will become his secondary coach and senior defensive consultant, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported.
Ulbrich, UCLA’s defensive coordinator, will coach the Falcons’ linebackers, FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez reported.
Manuel and Ulbrich join a defensive staff led by coordinator Richard Smith and including passing game coordinator Raheem Morris, who will also be Quinn’s assistant head coach, and holdover defensive line coach Bryan Cox.
Manuel, a former NFL safety, got his coaching start in Seattle under Pete Carroll in 2012.
Ulbrich, a former linebacker and special-teams standout in the NFL, also started his coaching career in Seattle, in 2010. UCLA hired him in 2012.
