Falcons add S Godfrey to roster
The Sports Xchange
The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran safety Charles Godfrey to the active roster and running back Gus Johnson and wide receiver Devon Wylie to the practice squad on Tuesday.
The Falcons also released Allen Bradford and waived linebacker Derek Akunne and running back Juhwan Edwards from the practice squad.
Godfrey spent the first six years of his career with the Carolina Panthers before signing with the Falcons as a free agent last October. He played in five games for Atlanta in 2014 and one this year. In his eighth season in the NFL, Godfrey has 372 career tackles and 11 interceptions.
Johnson made the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad as an unsigned college free agent.
Wylie has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams. Akunne signed with the Falcons as a college free agent earlier this year.
Bradford, a sixth-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011, signed with the Falcons on Feb. 2. Edwards joined the San Diego Chargers as a college free agent after the 2015 draft.
