Eli Manning: Beckham Needs to ‘Raise His Level’
Odell Beckham Jr. spent the first two seasons of his NFL career racking up 2,755 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. Now his quarterback wants even more. On Monday, Eli Manning opened the Giants’ offseason workout program by asking his most dangerous wideout to try to find one more gear, in part because Beckham is the lone credible threat a thin receiving corps. “Odell has obviously done great things, but we need him to raise his level as well,” Manning said on a conference call. Manning did seem to realize he’s asking a lot from the receiver who’s practically carried the Giants air attack for the last two seasons, but he believes if Beckham can continue to hone his technique, the club can utilize the youngster more. “There are things he can work on and we ask a lot of him,” Manning said. “He’s required to know a lot of different routes and a lot of techniques and exactly how to do it. That’s the way he’s gonna get a lot of balls and be in position to do a lot of things.”
