Eagles WR Nelson Agholor Says Benching Was An Eye Opener

See why Nelson Agholor is grateful for his benching.

During the Philadelphia Eagles Monday night football game against the Green Bay Packers, there was one key offensive weapon missing. None other than wide receiver Nelson Agholor. Despite showing flashes of his potential, Agholor has frustrated tons of individuals within the organization from his drop passes to mental lapses.

Head coach Doug Pederson decided to send a message by benching the 23-year-old wideout against Green Bay. Instead of pouting about it, Agholor took the benching in stride.

“Some of the things that really stuck out to me was realizing a game that I love, I didn’t get a chance to play,” Agholor said Wednesday. “The fact that I didn’t get to play that day was an eye opener. You have to make sure you always have fun every opportunity you do have to play.”

With Jordan Matthews battling an ankle injury, we’re sure this benching was just a one-week thing. The Eagles are set to face the Bengals this Sunday.
