Eagles’ Sproles might be out two weeks
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles suffered a sprained left MCL on Sunday and is expected to miss a week or two, coach Chip Kelly said Monday.
The Eagles have a bye this week, and Kelly said they would assess the injury after the week off. “Could be a week or two,” the coach said.
Sproles, 31, was injured in the third quarter of the Eagles’ 27-0 victory over the New York Giants. Sproles ran for 39 yards and a touchdown on seven carries in the game.
In his first season with the Eagles after five in San Diego and three in New Orleans, Sproles has run for 211 yards and three scores on 32 carries and caught 16 passes for 198 yards. He also is second in the NFL with a 15.6-yard punt-return average.
