Eagles reportedly trade QB Barkley to Cardinals
The Sports Xchange
The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly traded quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.
The Eagles will receive a conditonal seventh-round pick in return, a source told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Barkley has to be on the Cardinals’ roster for six games for the Eagles to get the draft pick, the Inquirer reported.
The trade likely means Tim Tebow will make the Eagles’ roster as the third quarterback behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez.
The Eagles reportedly could have gotten a better deal for Barkley, their fourth-round pick in 2013. When they signed Tebow in April, the Miami Dolphins offered a fifth-rounder for Barkley, according to ESPN’s Dianna Marie Russini, but the Eagles wanted a fourth.
Barkley’s value went down in the preseason, when he completed 27 of 52 passes for 351 yards and two interceptions, with no touchdowns.
In five regular-season games over his two seasons with the Eagles, he was 30 of 50 for 300 yards and four interceptions.
