Eagles exercise 2016 option on DE Cox
The Sports Xchange
The Philadelphia Eagles on Monday exercised the fifth-year option on defensive end Fletcher Cox.
Cox, the 12th overall pick by the Eagles in 2012, will receive $7.8 million in 2016. The amount is guaranteed for injury until the start of the 2016 league year, when it will become fully guaranteed.
Cox, 24, was rated among the top 3-4 defensive ends in the NFL last season, when he tallied 61 tackles and four sacks while also recovering three fumbles.
In his three NFL seasons, Cox has 141 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
Cox became the 13th player from the 2012 first round whose option reportedly has been or will be exercised.
The option deadline is next Monday.
