Here are Michael’s top plays for Week 9:

QB’s

Tom Brady, New England Patriots $8,500

Tom Brady is the most expensive option this week, and it’s appropriate.  Out of all the elite quarterbacks, Brady has the best matchup by far.  Brady has been on a mission to put up big points and numbers every game.  And I don’t see the Washington Redskins changing that at all.  While the ‘Skins have held every team but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 21 points or less, I expect Tom Brady and the Pats to be the team to score the most points against Washington this season.  Brady may be expensive, but with the type of season he is having, it would be ill advised to bet against him at this point.

Eli Manning, New York Giants $6,900

Eli Manning is coming off a huge Week 8 where he threw for six touchdowns, and to a degree Eli went under the radar thanks to opposing quarterback Drew Brees throwing for seven touchdowns.  With confidence at an all time high, and Odell Beckham Jr. looking healthy and electric, Eli will have a huge game against Tampa Bay.  Playing against Lovie Smith’s Tampa-2, Odell Beckham Jr. is going to have a lot of room to run after the catch.  Eli will continue to put Odell in opportunities to make plays, and there’s no reason to think that strategy is a bad one.  The Giants passing attack puts together a good showing in Week 9 versus the Bucs, making Eli your best mid price quarterback option.

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers $5,200

Jameis Winston has had quite the start to his rookie career.  After opening his career on a pick six, Jameis has showed a lot of early promise and improvement.  Tampa Bay goes as Jameis goes, and with confidence brewing after a big divisional win over the Atlanta Falcons, Winston will be ready to go as he comes home in Week 9 versus the Giants.  Eli Manning will put up points against Tampa Bay.  And Jameis is going to have to keep responding with points of his own.  Jameis hasn’t thrown for three touchdowns or 300 yards in a game yet, but this smells like the game that happens.  Winston takes another step in the right direction in Week 9, putting up career numbers, making him an excellent cheap play at quarterback this week on Draft Kings.

RB’s

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings $7,300

Adrian Peterson hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4, and has only rushed for 100 yards once over the past four weeks.  I’m a firm believer in a guy being due, and Peterson is more due than ever.  The touchdown drought ends this week, and Peterson reminds everyone who is king of NFL running backs. With Todd Gurley on the other side of the field, Peterson will be more motivated than ever to show the home crowd who the best back on the field is. He’s as locked in as anyone at the running back position to get his share of touches, and I like his odds of turning those touches into big numbers in Week 9 against the St. Louis Rams.

DeMarco Murray, Philadelphia Eagles $6,400

Murray has made his fair share of headlines this year, all centering around him being either a huge bust and disappointment.  Over the last three weeks though, Murray has averaged just south of 20 carries per game and four catches.  With that solid usage and Murray at full strength, I expect him to have his best game of the season when he visits his former team, the Cowboys, in Week 9.  Facing his old squad, Murray will be as enthused as ever to have a big game.  He isn’t one of the most expensive options, but very possibly the top running back in Week 9.

Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers $4,300

Over the past three weeks, Jonathan Stewart is averaging 22 carries, 95 rushing yards, and a touchdown.  I’ll take that as my lower tier running back in Week 9.  The Panthers go against the Packers in Week 9, and with Aaron Rodgers going against the strong defense of the Panthers, I see Stewart continuing to be a big part of the Panthers attack.  He is really cheap and a good play in Week 9.

Charles Sims, Tampa Bay Buccaneers $3,600

Charles Sims is the backup to Doug Martin, and I expect the Bucs to throw the ball more in Week 9.  But, that’s exactly why I think Sims could be a sneaky play this week.  Sims and Jameis Winston have connected on two touchdown passes this year, and with the Bucs without receivers Vincent Jackson and Louis Murphy, you could see Sims have a few extra opportunities out of the backfield and in the screen game in Week 9.  He is dirt cheap, and will allow you to spend big at other positions if you utilize him against the Giants this week.

WR’s

Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants $8,800

Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning face the Bucs this week, and will pick up where they left off from last week, throwing multiple touchdowns and getting big yardage.  Last week, Julio Jones had 162 receiving yards and a touchdown catch against the Bucs, and Beckham Jr. is coming off a week where he had 130 yards receiving and three touchdown catches.  With Beckham and Manning having as much confidence as ever, I expect the matchup to help them to continue to improve and be one the better quarterback-receiver tandems in the game.

Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders $6,700

Amari Cooper is having a really nice rookie campaign.  He’s ranked 17^th among all wide receivers in yards, and is the most targeted receiver on the Oakland Raiders.  Derek Carr is a hot topic, as the sophomore quarterback has taken strides in the right direction.  Playing a Pittsburgh defense that isn’t strong against the pass, I would expect to see Carr throwing the ball a lot in Cooper’s direction.  Triple digits and a touchdown are what to expect this week for the first-round pick, making him a good mid-tier option at wide receiver in Week 9.

Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh Steelers $5,500

The absence of Le’Veon Bell will hurt the Steelers, but it also means the Steelers will most likely lean more heavily on the pass now that Ben Roethlisberger is also back.  Bryant and Big Ben had a lot of success together last year, and this could be their first big break out game together in 2015.  Bryant missed practice due to illness on 11/4, so monitor his status.  If he is probable to play, he should be in your daily fantasy lineup for Week 9.

Malcom Floyd, San Diego Chargers $3,900

Malcom Floyd will be taking on a much larger role with the departure of Keenan Allen.  Philip Rivers and the pass happy Chargers will rely on Floyd much more than just their deep threat for the rest of the year.  In Week 9 when facing a shaky Bears secondary, Floyd is a steal as he is priced under $4k.  Throw him as the flex or last wide out on your team, and load up elsewhere.

TE’s

Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots $8,000

I write about Rob Gronkowski just about every week.  And I say the same thing, that he will always be on this list as long as Brady and him are both healthy.  Well, I didn’t write about Gronk last week.  And he had 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.  He’s back on the list this week, and so is Brady.

Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins $4,500

Jordan Reed and the Redskins were on a bye last week, and have had two weeks to prepare for New England.  The last time the Redskins played was against Tampa Bay, when Reed had 11 receptions for 72 yards, and two touchdowns.  He looked explosive and at full health.  The talent has been there for Reed, and is nothing new to fantasy spotlight.  Maybe Reed and Cousins have figured things out and realize they are going to need each other if they have any chance of staying in the game with the Patriots?  I’m expecting a big game for Reed.  He’s cheap and a nice mid-tier tight end option in Week 9.

Vernon Davis, Denver Broncos $2,800

Vernon Davis is dirt cheap.  And it’s always fun to talk about a mid season trade that involves big names.  Davis could fit well with what the Broncos and Peyton Manning want to do on offense.  Manning will have to see what he has in Davis, so if it works out, be the person who saved big money on tight end, and bet on the newly acquired toy for Manning.  Davis makes a few nice plays, one being a touchdown, in an exciting Week 9 at Indianapolis.

D/ST

Atlanta Falcons, $3400, ATL@SF

San Francisco is a mess.  Colin Kaepernick has lost his starting job to Blaine Gabbert.  That’s all you really should have to know to understand you should play the Falcons defense in Week 9.

Denver Broncos, $3000, DEN@IND

The Colts are a mess too, and the Broncos just shut down Aaron Rodgers.  If they can shut down the best quarterback in the game, they surely can make Andrew Luck continue to look bad.  I don’t see Luck getting back on track versus the Broncos great secondary.

New Orleans Saints, $2200, TEN@NO

The Saints are at home, and will face the Tennesee Titans who will start rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota, who hasn’t played in three weeks due to a knee injury, and be without top receiver Kendall Wright who is out with injury.  The Saints should be able to stop what the Titans, who just lost their head coach to firing, will throw at them in Week 9.  They are really cheap, and it makes a lot of sense to save money on defense in use the Saints as a low-risk, high-reward option in Week 9.
