Draft Kings Week 10 Preview

Find out who should be in your Draft Kings lineup this week.

Published

on

Throughout the NFL season, Football Insiders’ fantasy expert Michael Gonzalez will be providing advice to help you assemble your Draft Kings team. He will be providing three solid plays at each position – a high-priced option, middle-priced option and low-priced option – so you can find talented players for your roster and stay under the $50,000 salary cap. He’ll tell you his best values based on their Draft Kings salary.

This week, Football Insiders’ Draft Kings league is offering $1.25 million in total prizes including a $100,000 first-place prize. It only costs $3 to enter (or FREE if it’s your first time playing). You can draft your team here.

Here are Michael’s top plays for Week 10:

QB’s

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers $7,500

DET@GB

The option here was either Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, and Rodgers is $1,100 less than Brady.  Rodgers is coming off a loss to the Panthers where he threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns.  Rodgers and the Packers don’t lose this week to a Detroit Lions team that is nowhere near the caliber of the Panthers defense they played last week.  Rodgers goes bonkers, and is your best play if you want to spend big at quarterback.

Eli Manning, New York Giants $6,700

NE@NYG

Eli Manning has the fourth-most passing attempts in the league this year, including 12 more passes than his opponent Tom Brady. Remember that recent shootout between Manning and Drew Brees?  I could see this week’s game being very similar.  I see the Patriots and Brady winning, and in typical Brady fashion putting up big points.  However, Manning will have to keep up, so expect the pass-heavy offense to continue in Week 10.  This makes him the best mid-tier option at quarterback this week.

Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars $5,600

JAX@BAL

Blake Bortles travels to Baltimore this week and will face a Ravens defense that is 29th against the pass and 25th in scoring defense.  Against the Jets last week, Bortles threw for 381 yards and a pair of scores.  Coming off a week like that against a superior pass defense, I expect his solid season to continue against the Ravens.  Helping the cause is the fact that the Jaguars aren’t particularly good against the pass, and Joe Flacco is no slouch.  Bortles has good skill guys around him, and I predict that the Jaguars go into Baltimore and beat the Ravens.  Play Bortles if you want to save some money at quarterback in Week 10.

RB’s

Todd Gurley, St. Louis Rams $7,300

CHI@STL

Todd Gurley is already being labeled as one of best running backs in football. He’s always had that star potential, dating back to his time at Georgia. Well, he’s reaching that potential now and looks dominant.  The Chicago Bears are not going to slow this guy down, and he’s the safest bet to rush for 100 yards and a touchdown.  The rookie sensation is playing like an MVP candidate, and needs to be in your lineup regardless of the cost.

James Starks, Green Bay Packers $4,900

DET@GB

James Starks got the nod from head coach Mike McCarthy and is now the starting running back for the Packers.  What a great week to be the starting back for the Pack, as they face one of the league’s worst rush defenses in the Detroit Lions.  The Lions give up the third most rushing yards per game, and the most rushing touchdowns in all of football.  With a favorable matchup like that, Starks is a must play and a nice mid-tier option this week.

LeGarrette Blount, New England Patriots $4,900

NE@NYG

LeGarrette Blount is coming off a week in which he saw a season-high in rushing attempts with 29.  With Dion Lewis going down, even more carries will be handed to Blount the rest of the year. Blount is capable of having multiple touchdowns in that potent Patriots offense.  This just seems like the type of week where the Patriots will be on the goal line multiple times and Blount finds the end zone a lot.  He’s below $5,000 this week and is a nice RB2 or flex option.

Ryan Mathews, Philadelphia Eagles $3,500

MIA@PHI

The Dolphins just let LeSean McCoy go off for 112 rushing yards and a touchdown (and Karlos Williams added 110 yards and two touchdowns).  If Ryan Mathews is the No. 2 back and has similar results as the backup who just played the Dolphins, then he’s by far the best low-priced option in Week 10.  Mathews has seen the most consistent usage a fill-in back can have in the NFL.  He’s safe for around 70 yards, and will have his chance in the red zone to go along with that. That many yards and a touchdown from a guy who is as cheap as it gets is a great buy on Draft Kings.  Save your money and use Ryan Mathews in Week 10.

WR

Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants $8,800

NE@NYG

Odell Beckham Jr. and the Giants have a big game this Sunday against the undefeated Patriots, and there’s some deep history in this rivalry.  Big players are going to have big games in a matchup like this, and I see OBJ as someone who will feast.  The obvious number one weapon for Eli Manning will be targeted a lot, and will have to put up big numbers to have any chance against Tom Brady and the high powered Patriots.

Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers $6,700

DET@GB

It makes sense that the quarterbacks I’m always high on also have receivers that fall on this list.  Randall Cobb has been very disappointing this year in fantasy play – in respect to his draft position and how much you usually have to pay to have him on Draft Kings.  But he can’t keep letting us down, can he?  This is the week he and Aaron Rodgers explode. Coming off another loss, there is no way they don’t show up in this favorable matchup against the Lions.  The only thing that can go wrong is Rodgers connecting early in the game with other receivers and they go up big, leaving Cobb behind the eight-ball for the second half when they could utilize the rushing attack much more.  Cobb is too good to stay contained all year, making him your best option if you don’t want to pay a lot more for the elites at receiver this week.

Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh Steelers $4,700

CLE@PIT

It looks like Landry Jones will be starting for the Steelers, and Jones and Martavis Bryant have shown some pretty good chemistry together.  Bryant had his biggest game this year in Week 6 when he went for 137 yards and two touchdowns and Jones was his quarterback.  The Cleveland Browns aren’t anything special against the pass, and I expect Bryant to have a big game in Week 10.

Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers $4,200

DET@GB

The next best option at receiver for Aaron Rodgers after Randall Cobb?  Davante Adams.  Last week Adams had the second-most targets and receiving yards, and had the most receptions on his team.  He’s at full health now and on the upswing.  Just above $4,000 this week, Adams is a great low-priced receiving option in Week 10.

TE

Rob Gronkowski,  New England Patriots $8,000

NE@NYG

Rob Gronkowski is the top tight end in football, and is in a rivalry game this week on a Patriots team flirting with an undefeated record.  Gronk has a monster matchup, and won’t disappoint.  My advice with Gronk is always the same, if you want to spend the big dollars on him, go for it, I can’t argue with playing Gronk.  He’s a great play any week and is very deserving of being the most expensive option at his position every week.

Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins $4,600

NO@WAS

New Orleans has given up a lot of points to opposing tight ends this year, and Jordan Reed is poised for another touchdown-catching big game.  He’s a main part of the passing attack in Washington, and they will be throwing the ball a lot to keep up with Drew Brees and the Saints.  Reed is a good play for you to save money at tight end, and load up elsewhere.

Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota $3,000

MIN@OAK

Kyle Rudolph is as cheap as it gets at tight end this week.  It’s not that I’m expecting a huge game, I just could see him being productive in Week 10 against a Raiders defense that lets tight ends put up a lot of fantasy points this year.  Whether it’s Teddy Bridgewater or Shaun Hill, I expect Rudolph to be targeted a decent amount in this matchup against the Raiders.  Don’t have any money left for tight end?  Use Kyle Rudolph.

D/ST

Arizona Cardinals, ARI@SEA $3900

The Cardinals face the Seattle Seahawks this week, and they are nothing super scary as an offensive unit.  Russell Wilson has struggled this year, and facing a top notch defense like the Cardinals, I expect the issues to continue.

Carolina Panthers, CAR@TEN $3300

Carolina is unbeaten, and has a great defense that just stopped Aaron Rodgers enough to beat the Packers.  They should have more than enough to stop rookie Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans.  Even coming off of a huge victory over the Saints, I don’t expect the offense for the Titans to have the same luck against the Panthers.

Kansas City Chiefs, KC@DEN $2600

I think it may be against my religion to advise playing the defense going against Peyton Manning, but it’s a different day and age.  Peyton and the Broncos aren’t the same, and I expect Kansas City to give them a whole bunch of issues in Week 10.  In a low scoring game, I see Peyton and the Broncos turning the ball over, and the Chiefs putting up a defensive score against Denver this week.  They are really cheap on daily fantasy and a good option to save close to a $1000 on defense.
