Cowboys WR Bryant could return Week 8
The Sports Xchange
All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant is on pace to return to the Dallas Cowboys as soon as October 23.
The Cowboys (2-2) are off next week following Sunday’s matchup with the undefeated New England Patriots, when linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive end Greg Hardy are expected to play for Dallas for the first time this season.
Owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday more reinforcements could be coming soon, namely Bryant, who had surgery to repair a broken right foot. Bryant was hurt in the third quarter of the Cowboys’ season opener last month.
“Dez, of course, is Superman,” Jones said on 105.3 FM The Fan in Dallas. “I say that without a smile. He heals extraordinarily quick. His procedure went well. He’s sound with the procedure. Everything they did, by the way, the graft all that, it enhances his chance to get out there. I think he’s got a chance to do it after the bye.”
Bryant had bone graft surgery and his estimated return was set at between 6-12 weeks, depending on his rate of recovery. On Monday, vice president Stephen Jones told The Fan that Bryant was very much on pace and had experienced no setbacks.
The Cowboys have not adjusted the expected return date of Nov. 23 for quarterback Tony Romo, who is sidelined with a fractured left clavicle.
