Cowboys would franchise WR Bryant if needed
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show Tuesday that wide receiver Dez Bryant isn’t going anywhere, even if the team has to use the franchise tag to keep him.
Bryant leads the NFL with 39 touchdown receptions the last three years. Like NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray, Bryant is a free agent at the end of the 2014 season.
The Cowboys are not in great salary-cap shape after giving quarterback Tony Romo, left tackle Tyron Smith, linebacker Sean Lee lucrative extensions.
Jones told 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys will attempt to sign Bryant to a long-term deal, but know the franchise tag is their ace in the hole if talks break down.
