Cowboys sign LB Rivers

Published

on

The Dallas Cowboys signed former Buffalo Bills linebacker Keith Rivers to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

The Bills released the 28-year-old Rivers in February after one season in Buffalo. He had just 16 tackles in 12 games.

All three of the Cowboys’ top linebackers — Justin Durant, Rolando McClain and Bruce Carter — are eligible for free agency next week and Rivers provides depth and flexibility to the position.

Rivers previously spent two seasons with the New York Giants and four with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he started 33 games and had 185 tackles.

After sitting out the 2011 season with a wrist injury, Rivers was traded to the Giants in 2012 and in two seasons started 14 games and had 83 total tackles. In 2014, he signed a two-year contract with the Bills.
