Cowboys QB Romo practices
Quarterback Tony Romo practiced Thursday in London with the Dallas Cowboys, his first workout since injuring his back Oct. 27.
The Cowboys lost Romo against the Washington Redskins and enter Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium with a two-game losing streak.
Romo was diagnosed with a contusion or deep bruise, but tests revealed fractures of the transverse process, a small bony projection off the sides of each vertebrae.
“Like any injury, we have to get out test it out and see what you can do, push it a little bit,” said Romo, who indicated he still has soreness and will continue treatment each day. “At the same time, you have to be smart.”
Romo has been getting treatment for hours at a time. He was involved in position and team meetings and walk-through at the hotel on Wednesday.
Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are not expecting any surprises before Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
“I’m anticipating him playing, there’s no reason to think that he won’t,” Jones said Thursday. “My expectations are for him to play.”
Running back DeMarco Murray, the NFL’s leading rusher, also practiced Thursday. He has a fractured right pinky finger but will play with a small splint. Murray said the injury will not impact him, and he is not listed on the injury report.
