Colts waive WR Whalen, promote RB Tipton
The Indianapolis Colts waived wide receiver Griff Whalen and signed running back Zurlon Tipton to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday.
Whalen was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in April 2012. In 19 NFL games (three starts), he has 26 catches for 282 yards with two touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams with 34 punt returns for 291 yards and 16 kickoff returns for 401 yards.
Tipton was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in May out of Central Michigan and added to the practice squad on Sept. 11.
