Colts Select Phillip Dorsett 29th Overall- Full Analysis
Indianapolis may have selected the best player available and not be any better than they were. Find out why.
The Indianapolis Colts added more fuel to their offensive flame with former Miami speedster Phillip Dorsett.

“The Colts may not have addressed a need, but they did get the best available football player. Dorsett runs routes like a pro and is one of the fastest players to come into the NFL in years. The Colts will certainly be tough to match up with when they spread the field with T.Y. Hilton, Dorsett, Andre Johnson, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen.”- Charlie Bernstein

“I find this curious, to say the least. The Colts already have a small speed guy who played his college ball in Miami in T.Y. Hilton. Perhaps the thinking is if you have two flyers like this, you don’t have to give Andrew Luck all that much time to operate.” – Alex Hickey

“The Indianapolis Colts selecting Phillip Dorsett was a surprise. Receiver isn’t a glaring need for Indianapolis, and they aren’t in desperate need of a burner like Carolina or Baltimore. Dorsett will be just another weapon in Andrew Luck’s suddenly loaded toy box, and will have plenty of time to grow into his role. The ability to select a player who can do big things for your team as opposed to having to take a player to fill a big hole is one of the luxuries of being a good football team.”- Pat Donovan

“Mixed feelings on this pick. On one hand, the Colts might now have the most dynamic wide receiving corps in the league and it’s hard not to get caught up in what Andrew Luck might be capable of with all these weapons. On the other hand, Indianapolis has major needs on defense that could have been addressed more responsibly here. Instead, a front office that’s become known for fixating on skill position talent did nothing to shake that impression while neglecting real needs. Phillip Dorsett is an exciting talent with incredible speed and the ability to make big plays from the outside or in the slot. But I do think the Colts will continue to pay for the lack of attention paid to their defense when playoff time rolls around.” – Devon Jeffreys
