Colts score deal with Gore
Running back Frank Gore agreed to a three-year, $12 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.
Gore was expected to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. He agreed to the framework of a three-year, $7.5 million contract over the weekend before getting cold feet.
Gore’s decision to join the Colts, who have Trent Richardson, Vick Ballard and Dan Herron under contract at running back, was helped by a potential reunion with University of Miami teammate Andre Johnson. The veteran receiver released by the Houston Texans was scheduled to be in Indianapolis on Tuesday.
There are other ties to “The U” on the staff in Indianapolis. Assistant head coach Rob Chudzinski and head coach Chuck Pagano both coached for the Hurricanes. Pagano was a graduate assistant in 1985 and coached defensive backs from 1995-2000.
Gore, who will turn 32 in May, has run for more than 1,000 yards in four straight seasons and eight of nine. He tallied 1,106 yards and four touchdowns in 2014.
