Colts leave Richardson home
Running back Trent Richardson did not make the trip to New England with the Indianapolis Colts for personal reasons and will not play in the AFC Championship game, the team announced on Saturday.
Richardson also missed the divisional round of the playoffs and did not carry the ball in the wild card round. He rushed for 519 yards on 159 carries this season, averaging 3.3 yards per carry.
“That situation will never happen to me again,” Richardson said this week of being in active. “Anybody can quote me, today, because it’s never going to happen again.”
Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipson will be the Colts’ primary backs against the Patriots, coach Chuck Pagno said.
Pagano has indicated that Richardson became the odd man out because he does not play special teams, as reserve running back Michael Hill does.
