Colts acquire LB Moore in trade with Raiders

The Indianapolis Colts traded a 2016 late-round draft pick to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for linebacker Sio Moore on Friday.

The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Moore was originally drafted by the Raiders in the third round in 2013. In two seasons with Oakland, he started 22 games and registered 140 tackles (105 solo), 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defensed.

“This has been more than a home to me… So much if my heart is in the bay… My teammates RaiderNation Yall are family to me. Will miss Yall,” Moore tweeted Friday afternoon prior to the trade being announced.

The trade indicated a quick fall from grace for Moore with the Raiders after he finished third on the team in tackles last year despite playing just 11 games.

Moore has been hindered following major hip surgery and landed in the new coaching staff’s doghouse after he spent too much time in the trainer’s room during camp, according to NFL.com.

It appears the Raiders will use free-agent acquisition Malcolm Smith as the starter at weakside linebacker.
