Cincinnati Bengals Add an Offensive Tackle … Again!

The Bengals added a second offensive lineman in as many rounds, picking Oregon’s Jake Fisher with the No. 53 overall pick.

Don’t bother coming to the negotiating table, Andrew Whitworth. You’re not getting a new deal.

The Bengals, who have two starting offensive tackles entering contract years (Whitworth and Andre Smith), added Oregon OT Jake Fisher in the second round (No. 53 overall) of the NFL Draft. It is Cincinnati’s second offensive tackle selected in the first two rounds, as the Bengals picked Texas A&M OT Cedric Ogbuehi in the opening stanza.

By adding another tackle in Fisher, the Bengals are even more protected if Whitworth (34) and Smith leave as free agents. But the extra linemen could come in handy this year, as well, either by playing backup snaps at tackle or possibly moving inside to push for playing time at guard.

We know this: Andy Dalton needs all the protection he can get and you can never have enough maulers when you play in the ultra physical AFC North.
