The San Diego Chargers waived tight end Kyle Miller two days after he made his first career start and placed guard Johnnie Troutman on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday.

Miller started Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings and also played in the season opener against the Detroit Lions. He was waived before the Chargers’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals and then re-signed last week.

Troutman suffered a forearm injury during San Diego’s Aug. 13 preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys and was inactive for the first three games this year.

Last season, Troutman started 15 games for the Chargers at right guard.

As a result of the moves, the Chargers have two open spots on their 53-man active roster.
