BALTIMORE — Philip Rivers threw a go-ahead 1-yard touchdown to wide receiver Eddie Royal with 38 seconds left in the game and the San Diego Chargers got a boost to their playoff hopes with a 34-33 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

San Diego and Baltimore entered the game at 7-4, and the Chargers’ victory means they own the tiebreaker if the teams finish tied for a wild-card spot. San Diego overcame a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to pull out the win.

Rivers completed 34 of 45 passes for 383 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Wide receiver Keenan Allen had 11 catches for 121 yards with two touchdowns.

The Chargers were 9 of 11 on third down conversions.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco completed 19 of 31 passes for 225 yards with a pair of touchdowns to wide receiver Torrey Smith. Baltimore running back Justin Forsett had 106 yards on 24 carries, and eclipsed 1,000 yards for the first time in his seven-year career.

Justin Tucker converted all four of his field-goal attempts for the Ravens.

A 59-yard pass from Rivers to wide receiver Malcom Floyd to start the third quarter set up a 26-yard field goal by Nick Novak that pulled the Chargers to within 16-13. Baltimore responded on the ensuing drive as Flacco found Smith for a 10-yard touchdown.

After forcing a key three-and-out, the Chargers took advantage of a short field to close the gap to 23-20 on a 14-yard scamper by running back Ryan Mathews with 13:12 left in the game. However, Baltimore answered again with Flacco scoring on a 1-yard sneak.

San Diego cut the margin to 30-27 on a 23-yard pass from Rivers to Allen with 3:37 left, helped by a holding penalty on Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith. Jacoby Jones then returned the ensuing kickoff 72 yards, setting up a 31-yard field goal by Tucker with 2:22 left.

However, poor clock management by the Ravens gave the Chargers the ball with over two minutes left and Rivers made the Ravens pay with an eight-play, 80-yard game-winning drive.

San Diego snapped the Ravens’ 11 home game win streak.

Baltimore took a 7-0 lead on the game’s first possession as Smith made a one-handed grab on a 16-yard pass from Flacco in the middle of the end zone. On the next possession, Daryl Smith intercepted Rivers on the Chargers’ 19, which led to a 33-yard field goal by Tucker. San Diego responded with a 12-yard pass from Rivers to Allen that cut the margin to 10-7 with 20 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.

A fumble by Royal led to the Ravens’ fourth consecutive score as Tucker made his third field goal from 29 yards, providing a 16-7 lead. The Chargers managed a 52-yard field goal by Novak to get within six at the half.

NOTES: Baltimore lost for the first time at home to a team from the West Coast and is 11-1 in those games. … Chargers rookie C Chris Watt suffered a calf injury in third quarter and did not return. Trevor Robinson took over without any miscues. … Ravens WR Marlon Brown suffered a concussion in the second quarter after falling hard to the turf.
