Cards’ Ellington, Mathieu out, Fitzgerald game-time decision

Published

on

Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Friday that running back Andre Ellington and safety Tyrann Mathieu will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be a game-time decision for the Cardinals, who are 9-3 and trying to snap a two-game losing streak. Fitzgerald has missed the last two games with a knee injury.

Ellington missed his third straight practice Friday because of a hip injury. Arians said Stepfan Taylor will start at running back with Marion Grice and Michael Bush as options to get carries.

The Cardinals have scored just 21 points in the last two weeks.

Mathieu’s thumb was broken in the second quarter of Arizona’s 29-18 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week.

Guard Paul Fanaika (ankle) and defensive tackle Ed Stinson (toe) have also been ruled out for Arizona.
