Cardinals sign CB Green, release CB Smith

The Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Jonte Green and released cornerback Damond Smith, the team announced Tuesday.

Green, 26, played 24 games, including seven starts, for the Detroit Lions in 2012 and 2013. He was released by the Lions last season. Green did not play in any NFL games in 2014.

He was signed by the Buffalo Bills in January 2015 but was released in April.

Green also took part in the Cardinals rookie mini-camp following the draft on a tryout.

Smith did not play in the NFL during the 2014 season after being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs. He has never played in an NFL game.
