Cardinals, OLB Freeney agree to one-year deal
The Sports Xchange
The Arizona Cardinals reached an agreement Monday on a one-year contract with veteran pass rusher Dwight Freeney.
The outside linebacker passed a physical with the team, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported.
Feeney, a three-time first-team All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler with Indianapolis, played for Cardinals coach Bruce Arians in 2012 when Arians was the Colts’ interim head coach.
Freeney and Cardinals defensive coordinator Jason Betcher also worked together in 2012 with the Colts.
Freeney, 35, is coming off a productive season in which he stayed healthy and led the San Diego Chargers with 40 quarterback hurries. He had 3.5 sacks in 2014 and has been a free agent this season.
Freeney has 111.5 career sacks in 13 seasons, putting him at No. 21 on the all-time list.
